Im ersten Teil des Konzertabends wurde das Konzert für Violoncello und Orchester de moll von Èdouard Lalo mit Sol Gabetta als Solistin geboten. Es war erwartungsgemäß phantastisch. Gabetta hat nach dem ca. 31-minütigen Konzert noch eine kleine Zugabe auf dem Violoncello gegeben. Im zweiten Teil des Konzertes wurde dann die ca. 64-minütige Sinfonie Nr. 7 E-dur von Anton Bruckner gespielt. Das Tonhalle-Orchester bot hier eine hervorragende Leistung. Sol Gabetta ist als Ersatz für Hilary Hahn aufgetreten und es war das schönste Konzert, dass ich bisher besucht habe. Ihre Interpretation des Elgars Violoncello Konzert war brillant, bewegend, leidenschaftlicht, einfach wunderbar. Nicht umsonst ist Sol Gabetta eine der besten Cellisten der Welt.
