John Coffey

Comprised of David Achter de Molen (vocals), Alfred van Luttikhuizen (guitars), Christoffer van Teijlingen (guitars), Richard van Luttikhuizen (bass) and Carsten Brunsveld (drums), John Coffey’s style of punk and rock ’n roll is, and always has been, a conductor for energy. A release mechanism applied to songs and live shows where the band and crowd coalesced in a harmonious loop of unified chaos.

From Russia to America and countless clubs and festivals across Europe, John Coffey built a reputation as one of the most relentless and explosive live bands to emerge from the Netherlands. In September 2016 it all came to a halt when the band stepped off the stage indefinitely. What followed was a period of reflection, reinvention and space for new ideas.

Six years after their last dying notes, John Coffey returned in 2023 — louder, sharper and more driven than ever. New songs, new shows and a comeback album that proved the band had lost none of its urgency, ferocity or relevance. The response was immediate: sold-out shows, festival stages packed to the brim, and a renewed connection with a new generation of fans.

That same DIY spirit culminated in Coffey Fest, the band’s own punk rock festival. What started as a bold, independent statement quickly grew into a sold-out celebration of community, chaos and uncompromising music — firmly establishing Coffey Fest as a new fixture in the alternative festival circuit.

Never shying away from the world around them, John Coffey has also embraced a clear activist stance in recent years, using their platform to speak out on social justice, inequality and political urgency. For a band that has always thrived on tension and friction, engagement comes naturally — both on and off the stage.

And now, with that same uncontrollable urge that brought them back in the first place, John Coffey is here with new music and tour dates across Europe.
