The German Athletics Association (DLV), based in Darmstadt, is the umbrella organization for all athletics clubs in Germany. The DLV is the sixth largest professional association in the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). With almost 800,000 members in around 7,700 clubs, it is also the athletics association with the largest number of members in the world
German Championships and German Indoor Championships
In addition to numerous other events, the German Athletics Championships and the German Athletics Indoor Championships are among the highlights of the packed competition calendar every year. In both winter and summer, the German champions are crowned in each discipline in both the men's and women's categories.
Among others, separate championships are held in heptathlon/decathlon and for the long-distance disciplines.
