Anfang Januar ließen The Cat Empire die Katze – pun intended! – bereits aus dem Sack: Am 21. März wird ihr neues Album „Bird In Paradise“ erscheinen. Und weil zu neuer Musik meist auch neue Live-Shows gehören, legt die australische Band nun mit Tourdaten nach: Im September und Oktober 2025 kommen The Cat Empire für fünf Shows nach Deutschland.
Seit über 20 Jahren ist die Ende der Neunziger in Melbourne gegründete Band eine feste Größe in Sachen Jazz und Funk. Mit dem Song „Devil“ haben The Cat Empire Ende Januar bereits die erste Single aus ihrem kommenden Album veröffentlicht. „It features a dramatic and cinematic flamenco guitar and string orchestra intro, as well as blazing mariachi style trumpets, and Felix singing in Yindjibarndi (a community he’s had a strong relationship with for many years)“, so die Band über den Song. Er sei einer der epischeren Tracks des Albums. Allerdings verpassten sie ihm kürzlich ein noch epischeres Outfit, und zwar in Form einer Orchesterversion.
In Hinblick auf die kommende Tour schrieb die Band auf Instagram: „Europe and the UK! We are so very excited to announce that we’ll be coming to see you this September and October. With plenty of classic Cat Empire tunes, plus new songs from our upcoming ‘Bird in Paradise’ album, it’s going to be a super fun party set and we can’t wait to share some of the new sections we’re working on (as well as some old songs we haven’t played in aaaages).“ Man darf also gespannt sein, welche alten Songs die Band hervorkramt.
Tickets für die Tour von The Cat Empire bekommt ihr ab Donnerstag, den 27. Februar 2025, um 10 Uhr exklusiv auf www.eventim.de, einen Tag später beginnt der allgemeine Vorverkauf.
