Valentina Magaletti is a drummer-composer and multi-instrumentalist who redefines percussion with her original approach. Her versatile technique, ranging from vibraphone to contact microphones, allows her to explore bold and unconventional soundscapes, enriching the folkloric and traditional palette of her native Italy. As a drummer, she fluidly navigates between alternative and mainstream music. Her prolific discography is a testament to her broad artistic spectrum and impact on the contemporary music scene - and so are her numerous collaborations, including names like Vanishing Twin, Tomaga, UUUU, Raime, Nicolas Jaar and Jandek. For the LP Kansai Bruises, Valentina Magaletti has combined forces with musician, producer and composer YPY (aka Koshiro Hino of Goat)
YPY is a solo project led by Koshiro Hino. He runs a cassette tape label called Birdfriend, which features underground musicians from Japan and around the world. Hino also operates the contemporary/electronic record label, NAKID.
Joseph Kamaru, aka KMRU, is a Nairobi-born, Berlin-based sound artist whose work is grounded in the discourse of field recording, noise, and sound art. His work posits expanded listening cultures of sonic thoughts and sound practices, proposing outer auditory listenings beyond the norms. KMRU’s practice extends through creative compositions, installations, and performances and has earned international acclaim from his performances in far-flung locales such as the Barbican, Berlin Atonal, CTM festival, Big Ears, Le Guess Who, PRÉSENCES électronique, and DarkMofo, and exhibited sound works at Ars Electronica, Art Gallery of NSW, Sharjah and Venice Architecture Biennale, among other notables.
Chris Ryan Williams is an artist and musician based in Brooklyn, NY whose work unfolds through electroacoustic composition and performance installation. His EP Live earned praise from Jazz Right Now and The Quietus for its “dazzling collaged pieces that ricochet between improvised passages and written material” (Peter Margasak, The Quietus). His debut LP Odu: Vibration II, praised by Pitchfork and named one of NPR’s Best New Albums, reimagines a journey through Plato’s Cave. Williams’ work has been performed and presented extensively across the U.S. and Europe, including at the Venice Biennale, Roulette Intermedium, Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Royal Danish Playhouse, National Sawdust, and Performa Biennial. He has received commissions from the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, WasteLAnd, the American Composers Forum, and the International Contemporary Ensemble.
