General Terms and Conditions of the Ticket Shop

I. Scope of Application

Contractual relationships arise from the purchase of tickets between the ticket holder (customer or ticket holder) and the Deutscher Handballbund e.V. (DHB), a non-profit organisation registered under German law with its registered office at Strobelallee 56, 44139 Dortmund, Germany.

The General Terms and Conditions of the DHB (GTC) govern the contractual relationship between the customer and the DHB in relation to the IHF Handball Women's World Championship 2025, which will take place in Germany from 26 November to 9 December 2025 (event).

By placing an order, the customer recognises these GTC.

The DHB is responsible for the organisation and staging of the matches at the event in Germany.

II. Conclusion of Contract, Cancellation

  1. The binding offer to conclude the contract is made by the customer as soon as he completes the order process with regard to the selected online tickets. The contract is concluded between DHB and the customer through the online confirmation.
  2. No guarantee is given for the correctness of the data contained in the online system.
  3. The DHB is entitled to cancel an order of the customer for which a transaction number / order number / order number has already been assigned (unilateral right of withdrawal) if the customer violates specific conditions set by the organiser, which were pointed out during the advance sale, or attempts to circumvent them (e.g. violation of the restriction of ticket sales). The declaration of cancellation / withdrawal can also be made implicitly by crediting the amounts paid.
  4. Each customer is obliged to comply with all measures taken by the authorities of the LOCs to prevent a possible pandemic with regard to participation in the event. The same applies to safety and hygiene concepts, including but not limited to those issued by the DHB, the LOCs and/or third parties. In the event of non-compliance, the DHB reserves the right to exclude the customer concerned from (further) participation in the event.

III. Price Components & Payment Modalities

  1. The price for tickets purchased in the ticket shop consists of the basic price of the ticket and the booking and system fees. The statutory value added tax is included in the price.
  2. Payment is possible by credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express) or via PayPal. For national events, the order is processed via an SSL-secured connection with the help of CTS Eventim AG & Co. KGaA (head office: Contrescarpe 75A, 28195 Bremen, Germany).

IV. Delivery of the Purchased Tickets

  1. Tickets purchased via the Ticket Shop will be delivered by sending a print@home or mobile ticket to an e-mail address provided by the customer during the purchase process.
  2. The type of tickets and delivery can be changed at any time at the customer's discretion and ordered as an additional service in accordance with Section V below.

V. Additional Services

If the customer requests a different type of ticket, packaging and delivery of a souvenir ticket instead of an online ticket, additional shipping fees will be charged in deviation from Section IV. 1. The amount of these fees depends on the type of dispatch. The fee is displayed in the shopping basket when these additional services are ordered. There are no other additional costs. If the booking is made a few days before the event, the tickets will no longer be dispatched.

VI. Limitations of Liability, Exclusion of Cancellation in the Event of Certain Breaches of Duty

  1. The DHB shall in any case be liable without limitation under the Product Liability Act, for damages caused intentionally or by gross negligence, in the event of fraudulent concealment of defects, as well as for damages resulting from injury to life, limb or health. Liability for damages arising from the breach of a guarantee is also unlimited.
  2. In the event of a breach of essential contractual obligations (so-called cardinal obligations), which is only based on simple negligence, the DHB shall be liable limited to compensation for foreseeable damage typical for the contract.
  3. Except in the cases mentioned in paragraphs 1 and 2, the DHB shall not be liable for damages caused by simple negligence.
  4. The right of the customer to withdraw from the contract due to a breach of duty for which the organiser is not responsible and which does not consist of a defect in the goods is excluded.
  5. Insofar as the liability of the DHB is excluded or limited in accordance with the above paragraphs, this shall also apply to the liability of its vicarious agents and assistants.

VII. Return/Refund of the Tickets

Even if DHB offers tickets via means of distance communication within the meaning of Section 312c (2) BGB and thus a distance contract may exist in accordance with Section 312c (1) BGB, the customer has no right of cancellation when purchasing a ticket in accordance with Section 312g (2) No. 9 BGB. This means that there is no two-week right of cancellation or return.

Every offer or order of tickets is therefore binding immediately after confirmation by DHB and obliges the customer to accept and pay for the tickets ordered. Tickets lost or destroyed by the customer will not be replaced or refunded. The refund of the purchase price of the tickets as a gesture of goodwill is subject to the decision of the DHB, which is made on a case-by-case basis.

The refund of the ticket price cannot be claimed if the event has not yet been definitively scheduled at the time the tickets are ordered. The same applies if a match of the event is cancelled. The tickets remain valid in any case. If the event is cancelled, the ticket holder can cancel the transaction by returning the original ticket to the ticket agency from which the ticket was purchased. In this case, no processing, system or dispatch fees will be refunded.

VIII. Transfer of Tickets

In order to avoid violence and criminal offences in connection with entering the arena, to enforce arena bans, to prevent the resale of tickets at inflated prices and to separate fans of different teams from each other as well as to ensure the safety of spectators, it is in the interest of the DHB to restrict the transfer of tickets. Tickets may therefore only be sold for private reasons and not commercially. The ticket holder is in particular:

  • The sale of tickets on auction portals;
  • The sale of tickets for commercial purposes without the express prior written consent of the DHB;
  • The sale of tickets as part of a private transfer at a higher price than that stated on the tickets;
  • The transfer of tickets to persons who have been excluded from attending handball matches for security reasons; and
  • The transfer or use of tickets without the express prior written consent of the DHB for the purposes of advertising, marketing, as a bonus, promotional gift, prize or as part of an unauthorised hospitality or travel package.

In the event of a transfer of the ticket, the customer must inform DHB of the name, address and date of birth of the new ticket holder at DHB's request.

If a ticket is used for the aforementioned unauthorised purposes or if the ticket holder violates these GTC in any other way, the ticket shall lose its validity. In this case, the DHB is authorised to block the ticket - also electronically - and to deny the ticket holder access to the arena without compensation or to expel him/her from the arena.

IX. Sound and Image Recordings

For public reporting and advertising of the event, the DHB and other associations involved in the event (IHF) or third parties commissioned or otherwise authorised by them (e.g. radio, press) may, in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR, independently of each other, make video and audio recordings which may show the ticket holder as a spectator of the event.

The legitimate interest of the DHB or third parties commissioned or otherwise authorised by them (e.g. radio, press) lies in the interest of showing and exploiting the event concerned in the media. These image and sound recordings may be processed, utilised and publicly reproduced by the DHB and other associations as well as third parties authorised by them (e.g. radio, press) within the scope of the same legitimate interest.

The ticket holder may object to the use of his/her image and sound recordings at any time, without giving reasons and free of charge. An objection can be sent, for example, to datenschutz@dhb.de. Details can be found here.

If a customer purchases tickets not only for themselves but also for other ticket holders with an effective right to attend, the customer is required to ensure that the information in this section and section XIII. is forwarded to the relevant ticket holder.

X. House rules

Access to the arena is only possible with a valid ticket. Admission to the arena is subject to compliance with the house rules. Holders of discounted tickets are obliged to present an ID card or other proof that authorises them to claim the discount. The DHB is authorised to exercise domiciliary rights at any time. The ticket loses its validity when leaving the event. When attending matches at the event, the customer must observe the respective house rules of the host arena

In the interest of safety and the orderly and smooth running of the event, the ticket holder must follow the instructions of the police, the DHB, the LOCs and the security personnel as well as the venue management of the arena. Every ticket holder is obliged to cooperate with the police, the organisers, the security personnel and the venue management in order to verify his/her identity and, if necessary, to tolerate the confiscation of prohibited items in his/her possession.

Pyrotechnic items, in particular fireworks or smoke candles, weapons of any kind and similarly dangerous items, glass containers, cans, spirits and alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs or other items that impair the enjoyment of the games at the event or the comfort or safety of other visitors, players or officials are prohibited.

The same applies to advertising, commercial, political or religious items of any kind, including banners, signs, symbols or flyers. The aforementioned items may not be brought into the arena; the DHB is authorised to temporarily store them. It is forbidden to chant or spread racist, xenophobic or extreme right-wing slogans.

Ticket holders are prohibited from entering the pitch and other restricted areas. Persons who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, who are violent or whose behaviour is contrary to public order or who cause concern through such behaviour may be expelled from the arena.

Without the prior consent of the DHB, Ticket Holders are not permitted to record (other than for private purposes) or transmit or disseminate any sounds, images, descriptions or results of the Event in whole or in part via the internet or other media channels (including mobile communications) or to any other person in support of such activities. Devices or systems that can be used for such activities may not be brought into the arena without the prior consent of the DHB.

Images taken by ticket holders during a match at the event may only be used for private purposes. Any commercial use, regardless of the type of publication, requires the prior written consent of the DHB. The customer may not collect, archive or distribute match data from the event for commercial purposes.

The unauthorised sale of drinks, food, souvenirs, clothing, promotional items, fan merchandise and/or other commercial items is prohibited. Other claims for damages remain unaffected by this.

In addition, the DHB reserves the right to exclude persons who violate these prohibitions from purchasing tickets in the future, to expel them from the arena and/or to take further legal action against them.

XI. Binding text

These GTC have been drawn up in German and translated into the languages of the individual LOCs and are available in the Ticket Shop. In the event of a discrepancy between the German and the translated version, the German version shall prevail.

XII. Unforeseen circumstances

The DHB and the LOCs reserve the right to change the time, date and location of the event and/or match(es) due to unforeseen exceptional circumstances: Force majeure such as a pandemic, security reasons or other decisions by the competent authorities that have a significant impact on the match at the venue.

XIII. Data protection

For the DHB, compliance with the applicable data protection regulations is a matter of course. The DHB uses the data within the framework of the statutory provisions, in particular in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR. All personal data transmitted by the customer shall be collected, processed and used by DHB in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations. In this respect, reference is made to the data protection declaration available here.

XIV. Severability clause and amendment

The DHB reserves the right to amend these GTC if this is necessary to ensure the proper and safe organisation of the event and/or the match(es) concerned. The DHB will inform each Ticket Holder of such changes by e-mail to the address provided by the Ticket Holder. Should individual provisions of these GTC be declared void, invalid, illegal or unenforceable by a competent court, supervisory authority or government agency, then a. the remaining provisions of these GTC shall remain in force as if such void, invalid, illegal or unenforceable provision(s) had not been included; and b. to the extent necessary, the invalid provision shall be replaced by a provision that comes as close as possible to the economic purpose of the invalid provision.

XV. Final provisions

  1. These GTC shall be governed exclusively by German law.
  2. If the buyer is a merchant or a legal entity under public law, the competent court in Dortmund (Germany) shall be the exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from these GTC. This provision shall also apply to cross-border contracts concluded with non-merchants. The DHB also reserves the right to appeal to any other internationally competent court.
  3. We are not willing or obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. The DHB is not obliged and is not willing to use alternative dispute resolution bodies to settle disputes with consumers.
